Eskom and local authorities use cable trenches in and around their sub-stations and switch yards. These vital power hubs are all around the country. Cable trenches are built out of precast concrete or brickwork. The Covers are by far the most critical part of the cable trench. It spans across the width of the trench and can easily break under excessive loading. Careful design and manufacture are therefore important factors
Eskom designs their own covers and specifies it by means of their technical drawings. Vanstone manufactures Eskom products according to those drawings. However, Vanstone’s specification are usually better than that.
