Builders often use brickwork to build smaller domestic sewer manholes, valve boxes and electrical draw boxes. Following the bricks walls they place a cast iron lid and frame on top and cement in with a mortar surround. While brickwork is suitable for manipulating around underground services, the tops can be problematic. It is time-consuming and expensive and, unless a top artisan does the job, it will be of poor quality. Later thieves will steal the cast iron cover and chop out the frame with ease.
Vanstone offers ready made tops for site-built manholes. Simply build the walls to standard internal sizes, on top of which you bed in mortar Vanstone’s ready-made top including lid.
Lids are Vanstone’s trusted reinforced concrete type with galvanised steel lining. Moreover, the concrete slab or surround in which the lid is set is of high quality steel reinforced concrete.
Load Bearing Capacity:
All covers are medium duty and suitable for slow moving light vehicle traffic wheel loads. Occasional or accidental heavy vehicle wheels going slow will not break it. It is not suitable for installing in the roadway.
